LIFT OFF

With its four Merlins straining Lancaster PA474 rotates from the Fairford Runway. In the dark days of world war 2 Britain needed a heavy bomber that could reach right into the heart of Nazi Germany. The Lancaster was one of the most famous of these bomber types. With its massive bomb load it could deliver serious damage to the German war effort.
Today this aircraft flies to delight its many fans but also serves as a flying memorial to all the brave men who served in Bomber Command and those that paid the ultimate sacrifice. Lest we forget.
